De Tour Village overlooks the DeTour Passage in the St. Marys River that leads from Lake Superior and Sault Ste. Marie empties into Lake Huron. De Tour has been a fishing community since the French-Canadian times. Today tourism and retirees sustain the pleasant, unassuming place. It is a popular destination for duck and goose hunters. Boater used De Tour to access North Channel, that long, protected body of water ending at Georgian Bay.
