Harvey was also known as Chocolay.  The settlement was made in 1860 and called Chocolay after the creek upon which it was located, near Lake Superior.   It was a station on the D.M. & M Railroad and had a steam sawmill and iron furnace.  Today it is a built up section of suburban Marquette, with motel and resort center.
