Harvey was also known as Chocolay. The settlement was made in 1860 and called Chocolay after the creek upon which it was located, near Lake Superior. It was a station on the D.M. & M Railroad and had a steam sawmill and iron furnace. Today it is a built up section of suburban Marquette, with motel and resort center.

Iron Ore Heritage Trail [Biking, Hiking & Snowmobile Trails], 337 W. Washington Street, Marquette, MI 49855, Phone: (906) 235-2923. The Iron ORe Heritage Trail is a 48-mile rail trail across Marquette County in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. 28 miles of the trail are either paved and or a crushed limestone/granite. It interprets the sites and stories of the Marquette Iron Range and connects the most populated cities of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The trail is open for walkers, runners, bikers and nature enthusiasts in the warm weather months. Much of the trail is open to snowmobiles from December 1 to March 1. It is the only long distance bike trail in the U.P.
