Missaukee County is located in the northeastern part of the lower peninsula, traversed by M-55. The county contains 565 square miles and is the 52nd largest in the state. The county seat is Lake City. The Pere Marquette State Forest covers much of the county. Farms account for about one-quarter of the land, much of it in livestock production, particularly dairy cows. Lumber and wood products are the main manufacturing activities.
