Alcona County - National Forest Campgrounds

Gabions National Forest Campground, Glennie, MI 48737, Phone: (989) 739-0728.  Gabions Campground is located on the AuSable River west of Glennie. 6 campsites. 

Horseshoe Lake National Forest Campground, Glennie, MI 48737, Phone: (989) 739-0728.  Horseshoe Lake Campground is located north of Glennie on M-65.

Jewell Lake National Forest Campground, Forest Service Road 4601, Huron-Manistee National Forests, Barton City, MI 48705, Phone: (989) 739-0728. Jewell Lake Campground is located on the east side of Jewell Lake. This lake offers a wide variety of fishing and boating opportunities. A one mile hiking trail is located off the beach area and a snowmobile trail runs through the area during the winter months. Jewell Lake Campground is ideal for the nature lover who enjoys wildlife and privacy. 32 campsites.

Pine River National Forest Campground, Rearing Pond Trail (Forest Road 4121), Huron Manistee National Forest, Glennie, MI 48737, Phone: (989) 739-0728. Pine River Campground offers a variety of recreation opportunities such as hunting, picnicking, mushroom gathering and berry picking. Fishing for steelhead and trout is also popular in this area. This beautiful campground is located on the south branch of the Pine River and allows families to experience and enjoy nature. This area is also a prime location for viewing habitat for the endangered Kirtland's warbler songbird. 11 campsites.

Crawford County - National Forest Campgrounds

Kneff Lake National Foest Campground, Mio Ranger Station, 107 McKinley Drive, Mio MI 48647. Phone: (989) 826-3252. This campground is located in Crawford County, Michigan. The nearest community is Grayling, about 8 miles west. Kneff Lake Campground provides a wide variety of camping, swimming, and picnicking experiences in wooded areas along the shore of Kneff Lake. Kneff Lake is a designated trout lake and is stocked with rainbow trout. Although a portion of the lake is located on private land, the majority of it is located on National Forest land. 27 campsites.

Wakeley Lake National Forest Foot Travel Area, M-72 West, Huron-Mainstee National Forest, Grayling, MI 49738, Phone: (989 ) 826-3252. The Wakeley Lake Area is located in Crawford County, Michigan. The nearest community is Grayling, about 10 miles west. The Wakeley Lake Foot-Travel Area is a special area designed for the protection and restoration of threatened loons and eagles. With an extensive network of trails, visitors are able to wander and explore this scenic, non-motorized area. Vegetation varies from tag alder and conifer swamps to upland jack pine, white pine, and oak. The area provides excellent opportunities for fishing; however, due to the fish population and its importance to the loons and eagles, fishing is limited to catch and release only. Walk-in camping is welcomed and visitors are asked to please carry out what they carry in.

Iosco County - National Forest Campgrounds

Monument National Forest Campground, Huron Shores Ranger Station, 5761 North Skeel Road, Oscoda MI 48750. Phone: (989) 739-0728. Monument Campground is located in Iosco County, Michigan. The nearest communities are Tawas City to the southeast, Oscoda to the east and Glennie and Hale to the west. Monument Campground is a fully accessible camping area within a red pine plantation. The campground was established by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's and recently upgraded with paved spurs, accessible toilets and grills. It is located next to Lumberman's Monument Visitor Center. The campground offers a secluded, natural camping experience with many opportunities to view wildlife. 19 campsites.

Rollways National Forest Campground, Huron Shores Ranger Station, 5761 North Skeel Road, Oscoda, MI 48750. Phone:  (989) 739-0728. Rollways Campground is located in Iosco County, Michigan. The nearest community is Hale, about 7 miles south. Rollways Campground is a small, secluded campground located along the beautiful AuSable River. The campground offers pull-through style camping sites and is an excellent camping area for the nature lover. Access to the river from the campground is very steep and difficult. Boating and fishing access to Loud Pond is available six miles east along M-65 to Loud Dam Pond and the Loud Dam boat launch. Rollways has two declks, picnic grounds and a log shelter. Rollways picnic area is part of the Recreation Fee Demonstration Project and a vehicle pass is required there. 18 campsites.

South Branch National Forest Trail Camp, Huron Shores Ranger Station, Oscoda, MI 48750.  Phone: (989) 739-0728. South Branch Trail Camp is located in Iosco County, Michigan.  The nearest community is South Branch 5 miles to the west and Hale 10 miles to the south.  South Branch Trail Camp serves the 240-mile Michigan Shore-to-Shore Riging and Hiking Trail.  The camp primarily serves campers with horses usin the trail system, however anyone is welcome. South Branch Trail Camp is adjacent to the South Branch River which contains brown trout and is with 1.5 miles of Loud Dam on the Au Sable River. There are many places for horses to rest and campers to recreate.

Lake County - National Forest Campgrounds

Bear Track National Forest Campground, Manistee Ranger Station, Manistee, MI 49660. Phone: (231) 723-2211.

Newaygo County - National Forest Campgrounds

Benton Lake National Forest Campground, Baldwin Ranger Station, 650 North Michigan Avenue, Baldwin, MI 49304. Phone: (231) 745-4631. Benton Lake is a 33-acre lake completely surrounded by National Forest land. The campground provides an excellent opportunity for the quiet enjoyment of the woods and water. The North Country National Scenic Hiking Trail is located off Pierce Drive, about 2 miles east of the campground entrance road. There are many things to do and see, including fishing, boating, swimming, hiking, or just relaxing. Benton Lake is located in Newaygo County, Michigan. The nearest community is Brohman, Michigan, about 4 miles east. 25 campsites.

Ogemaw County - National Forest Campgrounds

Island Lake National Forest Campground, County Road 486, Huron-Manistee National Forests, Rose City, MI 48654, Phone: (989) 826-3252. Island Lake is a small, sheltered lake in an area of rough, crater strewn terrain. Although cottages and cabins surround the lake, it is quiet as motors are not permitted on the lake. The campground has a nice beach and a self-guided nature trail. 17 campsites.

Oscoda County - National Forest Campgrounds

Luzerne National Forest Trail Camp, Mio Ranger Station, 107 McKinley Drive, Mio MI 48647. Phone: (989) 826-3252. The Luzerne Trail Camp is located in Oscoda County, Michigan. The nearest community is Luzerne, about 3 miles North. The Luzerne Trail Camp is located along the Michigan Shore-to-Shore hiking and horse riding trail. Maintained primarily by the Michigan Trail Riders Association, the Luzerne Trail camp features beautiful stands of oak and maple and offers a variety of wildlife for hikers and horseback riders. In order to keep the trail camp beautiful, visitors are asked to pack out what they pack in. 10 campsites and group campsite.

Mack Lake National Forest Campground, Mio Ranger Station, 107 McKinley Drive, Mio, MI 48647. Phone: (989) 826-3252. This campground is located in Oscoda County, Michigan. The nearest community is Mio, about 8.5 miles northwest. Mack Lake Campground provides access to some of the best Off Road Vehicle Trails in Michigan. The lake is surrounded by rolling jack pine plains, which provide nesting habitat for the endangered Kirtland's Warbler. The campground is scenic and secluded. Because the lake is so shallow, fishing is marginal. 42 campsites.

McKinley Naitonal Forest Trail Camp, Forest Service Road 4004, McKinley, Mio, MI 48647, Phone: (989) 826-3252. The McKinley Trail Camp is located in Oscoda County, Michigan. The nearest community is Mio, about 9 miles west. This large trail camp is one of several campgrounds on the Shore-to-Shore trail. Used primarily by horseback riders, the camp is available throughout the year for hunting, backpacking, biking, and general camping. The campground can easily accommodate large groups.

Meadows National Forest Campground, Mio Ranger Station, 107 McKinley Drive, Mio, MI 48647. Phone: (989) 826-3252. This campground is located in Oscoda County, Michigan. The nearest community is Luzerne, about 6.5 miles northeast. The Meadows Campground provides access to some of the best Off Road Vehicle Trails in Michigan. The campground is surrounded by rolling hills of oaks and jack pine trees. 16 campsites.

Wagner Lake National Forest Campground, Mio Ranger Station, 107 McKinley Drive, Mio, MI 48647. Phone: (989) 826-3252. The Wagner Lake Campground is located in Oscoda County, Michigan. The nearest community is Mio, about 8 miles northeast. The campground at Wagner Lake is small and quaint. Surrounded by National Forest, Wagner Lake campground is peaceful and natural and offers a wide variety of activities. It is the perfect setting for fishing, swimming, or just relaxing. 12 campsites.
