Raber is located about 2-1/2 miles north of Goetzville Raber was once home to a huge sawmill. Today it is a small community with a public dock, some houses, a motel, some resorts, and a small store-gas station-laundromat. Raber is known for outstanding fishing for herring, smelt and walleye in Raber Bay. Offshore is mile-long Lime Island a popular destination for boaters.

Round Island Light Station - Raber,.Michigan. Built in 1892, Round Island Light is now a private residence. The owners have completely remodeled and renovated the premises. Light is only accessible by boat. Directions: I-75 to M-134 east. Follow M-134 16 miles to M-129 north. Take M-129 2 miles to Swede road east, follow Swede Road to M-48 east for 10 miles to North Raber Road North to Lighthouse.

Chippewa County - Visitors to the Island must charter or navigate a boat 3.0 miles across the St. Mary's River. Vehicle parking is available inland at Raber. Use of a non-motorized boat to reach the island is NOT recommended. Get back to the simple pleasures in life. Sit atop a bluff overlooking the St. Mary's River and watch the large freighters pass. Head inland on the many trails that lace the Island. Fishing can be enjoyed from shore or water and a beach is within close proximity. All this and more is offered to Lime Island Cottage and Camping Platform guests.
